Timeless Tidings Christmas cards

With Thanksgiving looming, my internal card-making clock tells me its time to make sure I’ve created enough Christmas cards to mail in early December. Ok, so maybe it’s not an internal clock… more like a slight panic attack!

I lose creative mojo (aka enthusiasm) making the same card in multiples, so my go-to time saver is making similar cards using the same supplies. For the cards below, I started with white and black cardstock and repeat-stamped images to color in. I also added little dots between the images to fill in some of the white space without making it too busy.

A card layout you can use!

Need a layout that will allow you to use patterned paper and come together quickly? Try this one and add your favorite details to dress it up!

The patterned paper on these cards measures 3-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ and is backed by coordinating cardstock just a 1/4″ wider. Silver thread, fussy cut and die cut embellishments add just a little “something”. ¬†These two are a little more detailed with extra dots, rhinestones and glimmer die cuts – a little smidge of glam.

Family Circus

A few months ago, Hero Arts released a carnival themed stamp set in a kit that immediately caught my attention and imagination. See, I’ve had this Sassy Family stamp set from Technique Tuesday that was just begging for some images to go with it.

Technique Tuesday “Sassy Family”

Our family is one tent away from a full blown circus.”

I’ve had enough real conversations with people to know that this probably relates to most famillies.¬†I feel certain I could send this to just about anyone in mine to get a laugh and a nod of acknowledgement out of them. We all know there are lots of personalities in our tribe and there is so much going on at any given time. ¬†Creatively speaking, the ups and downs of the carnival rides shown here could easily describe life in general; then add in the food, sounds and color that help fill the senses. Fun, laughter and a bit of craziness all rolled into one‚Ķ kinda like a family reunion¬†ūüėČ

Rejoice and be glad

“This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

sentiment from Christ is Born by Technique Tuesday

I keep meaning to start my Christmas cards but keep getting sidetracked. I had a layout in mind after seeing this wreath card, but when those attempts ended up in file 13 (recycling), I noticed the bird paper on my desk and ended up on a different path. By the time the rest of it came together, I knew I wanted a faith-based sentiment. This one, actually part of a Christmas sentiment set, made me think of the psalm above and how the right attitude in the morning makes such a difference in day-to-day life. It will put a song in your heart and help your step be light as a feather.
