Thank goodness for men who grill

I’ve just spent a good portion of the weekend in my craftroom thanks to SplitcoastStampers and the generosity of my man. SCS hosted a Virtual Stamp Night where projects get posted every hour for 6 hours on Friday night and another 11 hours on Saturday. I didn’t realize I could make a card in an hour, much less repeat that several times. Some are meh, but some are actually pretty good! lol But it was only possible because my honey and sons were willing to fend for themselves food wise (i.e., eat the leftovers I prepared for this) and also grill for dinner on Sunday while I was tackling the last few challenges.

I encourage you to check out the gallery at SplitcoastStampers. But in the meantime, here are just a few of the cards I created. I would show you the steak and fresh veggies we had for dinner but no one took the time to photograph those; we didn’t even think about it until the last morsel had been consumed.

Stamp Review Crew – Tropical Chic Blog Hop

Hi everyone! The SRC has another great blog hop set up for you, this one using the new Tropical Chic stamp set from the 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. There are some great framelits to go along with this set, too. Be sure to visit the other stops on the hop for lots of ideas to create and share!

My first card was made using only the seed image in the set. Although they do look like the seeds our Pygmy Date Palm drops, for some reason I thought of a delicious summer-time treat – watermelon! The seeds were heat embossed onto Poppy Parade cardstock to keep the look fresh and vibrant.

For this next card, I changed track and went coastal. Palm fronds were heat embossed on watercolor paper, then I added a wash of watercolor in both blues and greens over the entire panel. To finish it off, I added a couple of die-cut palm fronds from the coordinating framelit set; there’s a second part to this framelit that will cut out the stamped image if you wish.

The tiny pearls were lightly colored using an alcohol-based marker. The sentiment is also from this stamp set and comes as one longer sentiment. I don’t do stamp surgery often, but I know I will use this one in segments more than together. The “love & thanks” part will probably see a lot of ink on it’s own 🙂

Thanks so much for bumping through my blog. I hope you enjoyed the projects and noticed something you can use! Your next stop on this journey is Debra Burgin. I can’t wait to see what fun color combos she chose today. (Going the other way? This link will take you to Charlet Mallett and her website, painted-orange!)

Happy Birthday, Human

Hi all! I’m taking the day off to spend time with my hubby and guess what? He’s busy cleaning up his desk and watching the first FIFA game. *laugh* So that gives me time to share this card with you! It’s based on a sketch challenge posted by Freshly Made Sketches just yesterday, so there’s plenty of time for you to play along, too 🙂

Can I tell you that coloring aliens is a lot of fun? You can color them any combination you want to! Of course, I couldn’t resist making one of them green – so predictable. I fussy cut them along with the earth image so that I could play around with the placement. Originally, they were just going to be in the clouds but my husband (who is supposed to be cleaning his desk) thought that was weird, so they got a spaceship and we earthlings got a cloudy day instead. 😉

Thanks for checking out my card and putting up with my silliness. I would tell you I’m not always like this, but that wouldn’t be the truth. Sometimes, I just hide it better 😉

Fab is a frame of mind

Today starts a new adventure. I blogged for years (here), but decided to put that to rest a few months ago. While I don’t miss trying to sell product, I definitely miss the flow of sharing ideas and inspiration with such friendly people and can’t wait to share craft, home and food ideas in this fresh new spot.

Today a card 🙂

Fab Fri posted a fab layout which called for using a fab sentiment. And a fab flamingo, too!
