Sending warm thoughts

I am blessed with a wonderful cousin who has a beautiful heart. She is so good at making you feel welcome when you visit and she’s also thoughtful about sending occasional notes just to say hi. I’m thankful she likes my creations, as well, so I can let her know how loved and appreciated she is.

I was hoping to create a light-hearted card to send to her this week and came across a sketch challenge by FMS. It was just what I needed to get the creativity -and the ink! – flowing!

To create the image area, I die cut a large circle from copy paper. I lightly taped it in place over the card layer then lightly blended Soft Sky (Stampin’ Up!) ink in the circle just for a hint of color. With the mask still in place, I stamped the image into the opening. After removing the mask, the image was colored with Copic markers and a white gel pen to accent highlights on the balloon.

“Sending” was die cut from card stock and a scrap of patterned paper (I knew that piece would come in handy!), then glued and stacked together for a little bit of dimension. This die coordinates with sentiments from Creative Expressions and I used two of those to complete the greeting. To help tie in the black under the sentiments, I added the strip of black cardstock on the left of the card base then adhered the card front in place. (This strip isn’t in the original sketch.)

To see the sketch and participate in the challenge, be sure to visit Freshly Made Sketches. They have a great sketch every week!

Thanks for visiting!
